Could Will Smith's "Hancock" Fit Into The MCU Or The DCU?

What is your favorite superhero film that isn't in a franchise?
In 2008, almost eight years before 'Deadpool', we were introduced to the first superhero who was a foul-mouthed alcoholic who had no regard for public safety or destruction. Will Smith played 'Hancock', an Immortal being who ended up saving an Advertising Exec (Jason Bateman), whose wife (Charlize Theron) also happened to be secretly Hancock's Immortal soulmate. That's like going on Tinder and seeing your girlfriend on there with a recent profile picture that you took.
While it made a respectable $630 million worldwide at the box office, it didn't really reach the pop cultural mainstream, and can we really say it has become a cult hit since? But if we re-watch it, we can see how the film inspired 'The Boys', 'Peacemaker' and 'Deadpool'.
The first hour is freaking great. Hancock is a drunk superhero who creates more chaos when he tries to save the day. He throws a beached whale into a sailboat, destroys a freeway stopping Robbers, demolishes a train to save one car that he can easily move back, and throws a Child Bully up into the sky who called him an asshole. The second hour then becomes a standard superhero trope where he gets his shit together, becomes sober, and then saves the day.
But the big question is, would a first-half 'Hancock' fit better in the MCU or the DCU? For those who want a sequel, and count me among them, I'd like to see Will Smith share the screen with the Avengers in a big-screen battle or Ryan Reynolds on who can be more offensive. But would James Gunn's DCU be a better fit where he can be himself without having to be sanitized? What do you think? Do you want him in the MCU or the DCU?
