Who is your favorite of the four actors who have played The Flash in live action? We have John Wesley Shipp of the original 90s 'Flash' series, Kyler Gallner, who played Bart Allen in 'Smallville', Grant Gustin in the Arrowverse's 'Flash' show and finally, crazy Ezra Miller, who played him in the DCEU and also ran a commune out of his farm in Vermont.
James Gunn was asked on Threads from a fan about whether Grant Gustin could return as the Flash in the DCU. Gunn's response was “It happened on TV for 9 seasons”. If that's not a ringing endorsement than I don't know what is. I watched the show for the first few seasons, but around season 5 or 6, I stopped watching the Arrowverse altogether. I think Gustin is the best choice for the film, but that would bring up too many questions about the multiverse and what variant of Barry Allen he is.
Gunn was also asked about criticism of Christina Hodson (Bumblebee) being the writer for the upcoming Batman film 'The Brave And The Bold', which will gain steam once Matt Reeves' 'The Batman: Part Two' comes out in theaters next year.
"The universe is rife with incorrect information about the Brave and the Bold on every level. I will only say anyone maligning Christina Hodson's screenwriting skills has almost certainly never read an actual screenplay by Christina Hodson. She's one of the writers who was with us early in the DCU planning stages. I don't think you can judge my writing based on films others directed, as massive liberties are sometimes taken."
When asked if there was any, and I mean any chance Robert Pattinson could be the DCU Batman, Gunn responded, "No." And that's your weekly DCU roundup news. So that just leaves one question.
