The Casting Process: A King’s Audition

In a candid conversation, Lundgren shared how he landed the role. His audition involved performing a dramatic scene from the ‘80s classic Excalibur. He recalled going "over the top" with his portrayal, which impressed director James Wan and secured him the role of King Nereus. Underwater Filming: Tedious Yet Groundbreaking

Filming Aquaman wasn’t your average day on set. Despite the movie’s aquatic theme, most underwater scenes were shot in studios with advanced rigs and green screens. Actors were suspended on wires to simulate floating movements. This method, combined with James Wan’s perfectionism, required numerous takes for each shot.

Lundgren humorously recounted needing 28 takes for a single 10-foot floating movement. Co-star Willem Dafoe, who played Vulko, struggled to remember his lines after 40 takes. These retakes weren't just for performance tweaks but to ensure the visual effects aligned perfectly with the actors’ movements.
