What is your favorite film that is over three hours long? I have to say James Cameron's 'Titanic' is my choice, even almost thirty years later. The pacing is just incredible, the special effects still hold up thanks to practical sets rather than Stagecraft LED, and the storyline and characters are still magical. I still say Rose is the villain of the film, throwing the Heart of the Ocean diamond into the ocean rather than giving it to her Granddaughter, who took care of her all in the memory of a 2-day hookup. I'd hate to see her on dating apps like Bumble.
IMAX, according to a report at Nolan Archive, is busy working on new 70mm projectors that can play films over three hours long because of the current physical platter limits, which top out at 165 minutes. You don't know what that means, I don't know what that means, let's just leave it at that.
Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' was able to get around it using special workarounds as it ran 180 minutes. Nolan's upcoming 'The Odyssey' used 2 million feet/610km of film, which means its 70mm IMAX print is an astounding 18km long.
A six-minute clip of the film will be released this Friday in IMAX theaters. A new trailer will join the 'Avengers: Doomsday' trailer next week on showings of 'Avatar: Fire And Ash.' With 'Supergirl' trailer coming out this Thursday, we are about to recieve a Christmas gift of movie ads.
