What is your favorite 'Dawson's Creek' season? Was it the early high school ones or the late college ones? I connected with the show, wanting to be a filmmaker in a small town like the character of Dawson Leery, who worshipped Steven Spielberg, while I was more into the films from producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
Joshua Jackson was a guest on The Today Show, where he opened up about the passing of 'Dawson's Creek' co-star James Van Der Beek, who passed away last month from colorectal cancer. They played best friends Pacey Witter and Dawson Leery for five seasons of the show. The characters ended up having a falling out in season 3 when Dawson's ex-girlfriend, Joey Potter, played by Katie Holmes, fell in love with Pacey and would eventually end up together in the series finale.
"For me, as a father now, I think the enormity of that tragedy for his family hits me in a very different way than just as a colleague. So I think the processing is ongoing. We shared this amazing time together on 'Dawson's Creek'. It was formational for us. I know both of us look back on that time with great fondness. But I will also say that I know that I'm really just a footnote in what he actually accomplished in his life. He became what we used to just call a good man: a man of the kind of belief, the kind of faith that allowed him to face the impossible with grace."
Jackson added, "Van Der Beek was an unbelievable partner and husband, just a real man who showed up for his family and a beautiful, kind, curious, interested, dedicated father."
