Kurt Russell Took Tom Cruise Flying After "Top Gun" Came Out

What is your favorite Kurt Russell movie?

Kurt Russell recently gave an interview with Entertainment Weekly where he talked about flying with Tom Cruise in the 1980s after 'Top Gun' came out.

“I flew for 30 years. I'm not current anymore, but I flew a lot of different airplanes. Matter of fact, I helped Tom after he did 'Top Gun'. He and I got together. He wanted to go flying. We flew in my plane, and then I saw that he really wanted to learn to fly and did what I could to help him out in that regard.”

Cruise would later get his flying license after 'The Firm' director Sydney Pollack gifted him flying lessons after filming ended in 1993. He has flown in real life in movies like 'American Made' and the 'Mission: Impossible' series. My favorite airplane movie scene is in 'Flight' when Denzel Washington's drunk Pilot character lands the plane in the field behind the church. I recommend you check it out on YouTube.

When asked about the 'Top Gun' sequel, Russell continued, “He's a good stick man. And it was nice to see in the reprise of that character so many years later. I loved what they did with 'Top Gun 2'. I just thought it was great.”
