Michael Bay Will Smith

What is your favorite Bad Boys film? Michael Bay is not only my favorite director but the best popcorn blockbuster filmmaker of any generation. Whether you hate him or not you can't deny he makes films for the audience.

Bay is gearing up for his return to the director's chair with the high-octane thriller Fast and Loose, starring Will Smith. The film is slated to begin production this August under the Netflix banner.

After quashing rumors about a viral meme film, Bay is now channeling his energy into Fast and Loose, a story that promises explosive thrills. The plot follows a man who wakes up in Tijuana with amnesia, only to discover he’s been living a double life—as both a top-tier criminal and a covert CIA operative. It’s the kind of dual-identity chaos tailor-made for Bay's signature brand of cinematic mayhem.

The screenplay is a collaboration between Jon and Erich Hoeber (The Meg), Chris Bremner (Bad Boys for Life), and Eric Pearson (Black Widow), ensuring a tight, action-driven narrative. This marks Bay's latest project for Netflix after 2019's 6 Underground and follows his last theatrical release, Ambulance (2022).

Will Smith, riding the momentum from Bad Boys: Ride or Die, is assembling a comeback slate. In addition to Fast and Loose, he is set to star in I Am Legend 2, Hancock 2, The Council, and the Sony-backed sci-fi thriller Resistor.

With Bay's explosive visual style and Smith's charisma, Fast and Loose is already shaping up to be one of 2026's most anticipated action releases. Stay tuned for more updates as production kicks off in August. Comment below with your thoughts.
