For the first few seasons of The Ultimate Fighter a group of us would watch religiously along with the PPV's. Now none of us watch the show and because of the lack of superstars and the dilution of cards every week we rarely even discuss the sport of MMA.
Jon Jones has addressed the explosive incident that disrupted filming on the Russian "TUF-style" show ALF Reality in Thailand. The chaos erupted on Day 1 when prankster Zalimkhan “Zalik” Yusupov allegedly sparked a confrontation with Nate Diaz and his entourage, prompting the Stockton crew to storm off set.
“We had one of our young fighters, a guy named Zalik,” Jones explained to Red Corner MMA. “He was play-fighting with Nate, and that was not the best idea. Things escalated quickly.”
Jones and Diaz were originally cast as rival coaches for the latest season, following high-profile matchups like Aljamain Sterling vs. Petr Yan. But tensions flared when Diaz, already on edge due to past issues with Russian fighters, took offense to Yusupov’s antics. The "prank" spiraled into an all-out brawl involving production staff and Diaz’s team.
“The martial arts spirit — that Bushido code — it’s missing from some of the people here,” Jones said. “Some are true warriors, others are just street fighters. There's insults, weapons... this show is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”
Despite the mayhem, Jones seems committed to continuing the show, though Diaz had to be replaced. Footage from the set also shows Jones bonding with Yusupov, despite the controversy.
As the dust settles, fans are left wondering what’s next for both fighters — and whether ALF Reality will survive its rocky start. Comment below.
