Which is the biggest UFC fight that was never made? GSP vs Anderson Silva? Anderson Silva vs Jon Jones? Fedor vs Brock Lesnar?
Francis Ngannou has responded to Jon Jones’ challenge, but the long-rumored Ngannou vs Jones super-fight remains tangled in promotional politics. With Ngannou signed to PFL and Jones reportedly set to face interim champ Tom Aspinall, UFC President Dana White insists the official plan hasn't changed.
“Jon agreed to fight Tom,” White confirmed post-UFC 316. “Unless we put out a press release, it’s all just noise.”
That noise includes recent social media exchanges between Jones and Aspinall, with Aspinall declaring himself the true champion and Jones questioning his ground game. Amid the online chaos, Jones reignited interest in facing Ngannou, calling it “a clash of legacies” and “a real super fight.”
Ngannou, rarely vocal on social media, replied: “You take care of the UFC, I’ll take care of the PFL. And we’ll finally find out who’s the KING OF THE HEAVYWEIGHT.”
Though PFL has previously allowed Ngannou to box Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua without resistance, UFC’s stance remains rigid. White bluntly stated that a Ngannou return is “probably not” happening.
Meanwhile, fans continue to push for clarity. A viral petition calls for Jones to be stripped of the belt, enabling Aspinall to become undisputed. Yet White dismissed it, reaffirming the UFC’s commitment to making Jones vs Aspinall happen first.
Still, the allure of Francis Ngannou vs Jon Jones lingers—an epic collision of two heavyweight titans, if only the promotions can align. Comment below with your thoughts.
