What is your favorite TV show from the '90s that you wish would come back?
The 'Baywatch' reboot at the Fox network is going straight to series for the 2026-2027 season. Yes, the show that saw David Hasselhoff become a legend ('Jump In My Car' anyone), and made stars of Pamela Anderson, Jason Momoa, David Charvet, Yasmine Bleeth, Kelly Slater, and David Chokachi is coming back with a brand new cast.
Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television, said in a statement: “In its first run, ‘Baywatch’ defined an entire era of beach life and elevated lifeguards to an iconic status. Now, with our partners at Fremantle, this television juggernaut is set for a modern-day comeback. Together, Fox and Fremantle, along with Matt Nix and original co-creator Greg Bonann, will bring the California dream to a whole new generation of fans with fresh stories, rising stars and all the spectacle that make the ‘Baywatch’ franchise a global sensation.”
'Baywatch' was cancelled on NBC in its first season in 1989, before moving to syndication, where it became the most popular show in the world, running for another ten seasons, with its final two taking place in Hawaii. Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron starred in the feature film adaptation in 2017, which made $177 million worldwide but was panned by critics. I thought it had some good parts and showed Zac Efron could be the best comedic actor of this generation.
