Who is the best wrestler turned actor? Dwayne Johnson? Dave Bautista? John Cena? Hulk Hogan?

In what’s shaping up to be a star-studded adaptation, WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes is reportedly in negotiations to join the live-action Street Fighter reboot as the iconic character Guile.

The report, originating from Nexus Point News and relayed by GameFragger, follows the recent announcement of David Dastmalchian being cast as the nefarious M. Bison. If finalized, Rhodes would become the second WWE talent involved, after Roman Reigns, who is rumored to be playing the fearsome Akuma.

Guile, known for his flat-top haircut and signature “Sonic Boom” move, first appeared in 1991’s Street Fighter II. A stoic U.S. Air Force Colonel, Guile’s storyline often centers around avenging his friend Charlie Nash’s death at the hands of Bison.

Rhodes would step into the role famously portrayed by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the 1994 film, a cult classic despite its mixed reviews. This new adaptation already boasts a dynamic ensemble including Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, 50 Cent as Balrog, Jason Momoa as Blanka, and country artist Orville Peck as Vega.

The reboot is directed by Kitao Sakurai, known for The Eric Andre Show and Twisted Metal.

With fresh creative direction and a high-profile cast, fans are cautiously optimistic this version could finally do justice to Capcom’s legendary franchise. Comment below with your thoughts.
