DAVE FRANCO'S "THE STUDIO" RECAP VIDEO BELOW ARTICLE:
Everyone in the film industry has their favorite movie about the very industry they work in. Movies like The Player, Adaptation, Sunset Boulevard and Wag The Dog are among the best but I want to add a television show which beats them all: Seth Rogen's The Studio.
In a surprise twist during the season 1 finale of Apple TV+’s The Studio, Dave Franco delivered a chaotic, laugh-out-loud “drunk” voiceover recap — and fans can thank a spontaneous idea from co-creator Seth Rogen.
The unscripted moment opens the finale, which aired May 21, with Franco, 39, portraying an extremely inebriated version of himself recounting the absurd events of the penultimate episode. “It wasn’t in the script,” Rogen told PEOPLE. “It’s a drunk Dave Franco describing what happened in the previous episode.”
From drug-fueled chaos at a party hosted by Rogen’s character to looming threats of a studio buyout by Amazon, Franco’s expletive-filled recap is as unpredictable as it is hilarious. “He recorded it on his phone within 10 minutes,” Rogen said, revealing just how impromptu the idea was. In fact, castmates Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn, Catherine O’Hara, and Chase Sui Wonders didn’t even know it existed until their press interview.
Franco, always game, brought full energy to the recap, referencing Now You See Me and even joking about counting cards in Vegas. “I’m a little f----- up, but I’m gonna do my best,” he says, kicking off one of the show’s wildest sequences.
The finale nod, though brief, stole the spotlight — solidifying The Studio’s unpredictable and offbeat charm. Comment below with your thoughts.
