A24 has released the first trailer for The Smashing Machine, a gritty biopic directed by Benny Safdie. Dwayne Johnson stars as MMA legend Mark Kerr, with Emily Blunt portraying his wife, Dawn Staples. Kerr, a two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion, rose to fame in the late '90s before battling a serious addiction to painkillers.

Based on the acclaimed 2002 HBO documentary, the film explores Kerr's rise, fall, and fight for redemption. Shot in Vancouver, the cast also includes Lyndsey Gavin, Oleksandr Usyk, Ryan Bader, and more. Nala Sinephro provides the score.

The Smashing Machine hits theaters October 3rd.
