Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter

I recently started watching Suits for the first time two months ago and am now halfway thru season 6. The show is snappy, fast paced and fun. While it doesn't stay with you after you watch, it's a great way to spend your time on a spin bike to make the workout go faster.

After stepping away from acting to prioritize family life, Gabriel Macht never expected to play Harvey Specter again. But when Suits exploded in popularity on streaming platforms in 2023 — reaching a record 57.7 billion minutes viewed — creator Aaron Korsh saw a chance to build on the momentum with Suits LA, and offered Macht a short arc to help transition the legacy.

In a reflective interview, Macht revealed he returned not just to please fans, but because both he and Harvey had matured. “I personally am in a better space in my life emotionally — and I think Harvey is too,” Macht shared. Returning for a three-episode arc, Harvey’s role reconnects the East Coast legacy with the new West Coast story, forging ties with lead Ted Black (Stephen Amell) through a backstory involving an old mob case and a shared past on a prosecutors’ league baseball team.

Fans of Suits can expect a glimpse into Harvey’s current life — still in Seattle, still married to Donna, and likely still working with Mike Ross for the little guy. Macht notes that the mentorship dynamic between Harvey and Mike, where each character teaches and grows from the other, remains at the emotional core of the series' enduring appeal.

Yet Macht is aware of how Harvey has been embraced, and sometimes misunderstood, as a symbol of hypermasculinity. “I’m not in any way, shape or form supportive of the male toxicity Harvey exudes,” he says. Instead, he hopes viewers see the vulnerability and emotional evolution beneath the slick suits and sharp comebacks.

While Macht doesn’t rule out a return, his heart is currently with family and his new creative venture, Bear Fight Whiskey. Still, he leaves the door cracked: “If the opportunity comes where it makes sense... never say never.”
