VIDEO OF CREATORS EXPLAINING RIFT BELOW ARTICLE:
Earlier this year, Haliey Welch became an internet sensation, earning the nickname "Hawk Tuah Girl" after her unforgettable appearance in a video by content creators Tim & Dee TV. However, the viral fame hasn't come without drama, as both Welch and the creators have now publicly shared their sides of the story.
The Viral Moment That Started It All
In June, Tim & Dee TV released a series of videos capturing candid conversations with people on nights out. Welch’s now-infamous response to the question, "What makes a guy go crazy in bed?"—"You gotta hawk tuah and spit on that thing"—rocketed her to internet fame. Despite initially going into hiding, Welch eventually leaned into her viral status, launching her own podcast and amassing a staggering 2.6 million Instagram followers.
The Rift Between Haliey and Tim & Dee TV
Recently, Welch revealed she doesn’t feel obligated to thank Tim & Dee TV for her fame, sparking a public back-and-forth. Welch also claimed the creators approached her on the night they filmed the video. In response, Tim Dickerson and DeArius Marlow (the duo behind Tim & Dee TV) released a 41-minute YouTube video, disputing her account and sharing their perspective.
According to the creators, Welch approached them, intrigued by their camera equipment. DeArius shared that they had initially planned to ask more lighthearted questions like "What makes someone wifey material?" but Welch and her friends specifically requested something “spicy,” setting the stage for her viral response.
Behind the Scenes: DMs and Deals
Tim & Dee TV shared screenshots of direct messages exchanged with Welch’s friend Chelsea, who had also featured in the video. The messages reveal the creators offered the women opportunities to collaborate further, including a $10,000 offer to participate in another video and a share of merchandise sales. Chelsea declined, accusing the duo of handling the situation unfairly and severing ties.
The creators expressed confusion over the accusations. "I didn’t know that offering someone $10,000 and a percentage of merch sales was bad," DeArius remarked in their YouTube video.

What’s Next for Hawk Tuah Girl?
Despite the apparent tension, Welch has continued to build her brand. Tim & Dee TV even shared a screenshot of a message sent from Welch’s account, inviting them to appear on her podcast—a move that adds another layer to this unfolding story.
As Welch and Tim & Dee TV forge separate paths, their viral moment remains a fascinating case study in how fleeting internet fame can create long-lasting ripples, for better or worse.
