Who is your favorite TV Doctor? Are they from ER or Chicago Hope? Grey's Anatomy and Chicago Med? Or is it from new shows like The Pitt?
It's been over a decade since House wrapped, but fans hoping for a reunion or retrospective may be disappointed. Hugh Laurie, who starred as the brilliant yet misanthropic Dr. Gregory House, has reportedly shut the door on revisiting the role — even for something as simple as a podcast appearance.
Dr. Mike Varshavski, known as “Dr. Mike,” recently revealed on his podcast with guest Noah Wyle that Laurie’s team was contacted for a potential guest spot. The response was crystal clear: “He is not interested in opportunities like this, frankly doesn’t care about the audience or reliving the show.”
The acclaimed series, created by David Shore, aired from 2004 to 2012 on Fox and earned five Primetime Emmys and two Golden Globes. Laurie himself was nominated six times for Best Actor. Despite its age, House continues to find new fans through streaming platforms and social media, where clips frequently go viral.
The medical drama was praised for its sharp writing and Laurie's masterful performance as the acerbic, Vicodin-addicted diagnostician. It also featured an ensemble cast including Lisa Edelstein, Robert Sean Leonard, Olivia Wilde, and Jesse Spencer.
While other hit shows have returned for reunion episodes or revival seasons, it appears House won’t be among them. As beloved as the series remains, Hugh Laurie seems more than content leaving his iconic character — and the world of Princeton-Plainsboro — firmly in the past.
