Ryan Gosling Ghost Rider

Do you want Nicolas Cage to join the MCU as Ghost Rider or would you rather see him play another character?

A blazing new rumor has Marvel fans fired up: the Russo Brothers may be casting the MCU’s next Ghost Rider for Avengers: Doomsday.

As Marvel Studios shuffles its release slate—pushing back both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars—insiders say the delay could pave the way for major new characters, including the long-anticipated Spirit of Vengeance. According to entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic podcast, Ghost Rider will reportedly debut in Doomsday, marking the first time the character joins the MCU's main continuity.

Importantly, this isn't a return of Nicolas Cage’s Johnny Blaze from the 2000s-era films. Instead, Marvel appears to be reinventing the character for its modern universe. Ghost Rider was previously rumored for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which suggests Marvel has long planned his fiery arrival.

Adding fuel to fan excitement, Ryan Gosling—who’s openly expressed interest in the role—once received a playful nod from Kevin Feige himself. When asked if he’d play Ghost Rider, Gosling called it “amazing” and invited co-star Emily Blunt to join the ride. While he hasn’t confirmed any official talks, Gosling's name continues to dominate fan castings, and Marvel insiders haven’t ruled him out.

If true, Ghost Rider could help lead Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against Doctor Doom in what’s shaping up to be Marvel’s most epic crossover yet, potentially featuring the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and now, the Spirit of Vengeance. Comment below on your choice for who Nicolas Cage should play.
