Superman Star Wars

Is there a more cinematic moment than when the Star Wars title comes up, followed by the opening crawl as John Williams' score hits?

James Gunn's upcoming Superman film is already drawing buzz after new footage was unveiled during a press event in Brazil this week. According to attendees, including noted fan outlet BrasilSuperman (via Comic Book Movie), the preview opened with a Star Wars-inspired crawl that lays the foundation for the rebooted DC Universe.

The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The trio, alongside Gunn, appeared in person to promote the film through interviews and exclusive screenings.

The dramatic crawl reportedly helps establish the universe Gunn is crafting for DC Studios, with Superman serving as the official cinematic kickoff, though technically preceded by the animated series Creature Commandos on Max.

Gunn also addressed fan concerns and rumors. Notably, the awkward flying shot from the teaser trailer, dubbed the "wonky eye" moment, has been removed and updated. Additionally, Guardians of the Galaxy alumni Pom Klementieff, Michael Rooker, and Bradley Cooper lend their voices to robots in Superman’s Fortress of Solitude.

On the topic of negativity surrounding the film, particularly from some Snyderverse loyalists allegedly organizing a smear campaign online, Gunn brushed it off. "Lol I think we'll survive," he said on social media, adding, "I'm not sure the eight people that listen to that guy are going to impact the course of events."

Superman is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025, marking a bold new direction for DC’s cinematic future. Comment below with your thoughts.
