What's the most annoying thing you hate about Facebook? Is it people sending you a thumbs-up emoji in a message? People passively aggressively sending a Wave or a poke? Getting fifty friend requests from girls who look like Sydney Sweeney? Or is it that after accepting the request and sending them money that they weren't real people?
Aaron Sorkin, who won an Oscar for best screenplay in 2010 for The Social Network, is set to return for the sequel and will take over directing duties from David Fincher.
Sorkin has met with Jeremy Allen White (The Bear, Shameless) to play Wall Street Journal writer Jeff Horwitz, whose articles called the Facebook Files will be the basis of the film. It was from internal reports on how misinformation affected the 2021 Capitol Insurrection. Mikey Madison is also in talks to play whistleblower Frances Haugen, who leaked the reports to the WSJ and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
No word yet on whether Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield (who played Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin in the first one) will return in the sequel. I think the film would be making a mistake if they didn't, since they were the heart of the story. I can understand Garfield not returning since Saverin left Facebook before the end of the events of the first film, but with Zuckerberg still at the helm of the company, I don't see how he can not be included.
UPDATE: Jeremy Strong (Succession) is in talks to play Mark Zuckerberg, as Jesse Eisenberg has turned down returning in the role. I'm hoping this is a negotiating tactic, as it will feel less like a sequel, and I hate when sequels recast roles.
