One issue I have with the Netflix Marvel shows is the lack of connection to the cinematic universe with characters absent during world-ending battles. It looks slowly like Marvel is trying to change that.
Krysten Ritter is reprising her acclaimed role as the gritty private investigator-turned-superhero in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel Television confirmed during Disney’s 2025 upfront presentation. The announcement marks a major crossover moment as Marvel Studios continues to integrate fan-favorite characters from its Netflix era into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Ritter’s return reunites her with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, who she joined on stage for the reveal. Their team-up suggests a significant evolution in Born Again, which will pick up after the dramatic Season 1 finale that left Matt Murdock underground and regrouping in the face of Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) brutal power grab.
Jessica Jones will reportedly be one of the allies Daredevil turns to in his fight against Fisk’s anti-vigilante regime.
Marvel Television boss Brad Winderbaum hinted at a more thoughtful approach to character integration moving forward. While speculation swirls around other Netflix-era heroes like Luke Cage and Iron Fist, Winderbaum stressed, “It’s about telling the best story, not rushing.”
This marks a broader shift for Marvel’s television strategy. Instead of flooding Disney+ with interconnected titles, the studio now aims to develop a smaller slate of self-contained, seasonal shows that maintain MCU ties without overwhelming viewers.
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is shaping up to be both a fan-service spectacle and a model for Marvel’s evolving TV future — and Ritter’s return is just the beginning.
