"ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER" TRAILER VIDEO BELOW ARTICLE:
Leonardo DiCaprio returns to the big screen in an emotionally charged and darkly comedic role as Bob Ferguson in One Battle After Another, the latest film from acclaimed writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson. The first full trailer teases a bizarre and intense journey, centered on former revolutionaries reuniting to help their brother-in-arms, Bob, find his missing daughter.
The ensemble cast is stacked, featuring Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and rising talent Chase Infiniti. Del Toro’s stoic presence contrasts DiCaprio’s increasingly desperate demeanor, especially in a scene where Bob pleads, “I need you, brother. Sensei, Sensei, Sensei, please,” only to be met with the cryptic reassurance: “Courage, Bob. Courage.”
The plot thickens as Bob makes a frantic phone call, saying, “Steve Lockjaw just attacked my home, and I cannot remember, for the life of my only child, the answer to your question.” Anderson blends suspense and satire to create a disoriented, high-stakes tone, channeling the chaotic energy of Thomas Pynchon’s Vineland, which the film is said to be loosely inspired by.
With a reported budget exceeding $130 million, One Battle After Another is Anderson’s most ambitious project yet. Following the critical success of Licorice Pizza, expectations are high for another awards-season contender. The movie was originally set for an August release but has been pushed to September 26, heightening anticipation.
From cryptic dialogue to high-octane emotional stakes, this trailer suggests Anderson is once again fusing absurdism with raw human vulnerability—something only a cast like this could pull off.
