How Hamilton’s Technical Guidance is Driving Accuracy in the Upcoming F1 Movie

Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton is receiving high praise for his pivotal role in maintaining the authenticity of the upcoming ‘F1’ film starring Brad Pitt. As filming wraps up, the production team, including producer Jerry Bruckheimer, has highlighted Hamilton’s invaluable technical input in ensuring the racing sequences are as realistic as possible.

The movie, set to premiere on June 25, 2025, features Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a retired F1 driver mentoring rookie Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris. Hamilton's involvement went beyond consultation — he actively participated in the script review process and provided essential details on race dynamics, vehicle handling, and driver behavior.

“Lewis keeps us honest,” Bruckheimer stated. “He pointed out gear shifts, engine sounds, and even how physically demanding it is to handle these cars.” This attention to detail led Pitt to undergo rigorous training to portray a realistic F1 driver.

Apple SVP Eddy Cue praised Hamilton’s meticulous approach: “Even the sound of going around a curve had to be right. Lewis ensured we captured those nuances.”

Beyond technical accuracy, the film draws on real-life stories from other F1 drivers, incorporating their superstitions, tactics, and experiences. “We interviewed many drivers,” said Bruckheimer. “Brad’s character reflects those details.”

Although some filming footage has leaked online, the production team believes it only fuels anticipation. Cue remarked, “Out-of-context clips don’t spoil the story — they build excitement.”
