I will admit I have fallen out of love with Marvel as everything since Spider-Man No Way Home has underwhelmed with too many shows that have felt more like homework than entertainment.

In a move that surprised few but disappointed many, Marvel Studios has officially postponed the release dates for its highly anticipated Avengers films—Doomsday and Secret Wars.

Originally slated for May 1, 2026, Avengers: Doomsday will now debut on December 18, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars shifts from May 7, 2027 to December 17, 2027. The delays offer the studio additional time for production, post-production, and casting, potentially opening the door for more character appearances—including the rumored return of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

The decision appears strategic, as it avoids a box office clash with The Mandalorian and Grogu, a major Star Wars release set for May 2026. Furthermore, the winter release window has proven lucrative for past franchises like Avatar and Spider-Man.

In addition to these changes, Disney has pulled an “Untitled Marvel Movie” from the February 2026 calendar. Two other dates—November 6, 2026, and November 5, 2027—are now listed as “Untitled Disney” releases, leaving fans to speculate what might fill those slots.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set for July 2026, will swing into theaters between the two Avengers films, hinting at a more grounded, street-level storyline.

While delays are never easy for fans, this calculated shift may be key to delivering the epic finale the Multiverse Saga deserves.
