Michael Jackson 5 biopic

When you think of Michael Jackson, what's the first thing you think of? Thriller music video? Jackson doing the first moonwalk singing Billie Jean at the Motown 25 special? His sleeping in an oxygen chamber with his pet monkey and the Elephant Man's bones? Or his scandal at Neverland Ranch?

'Michael' was headed for a four-hour cut before a previous lawsuit settlement between the Jackson estate and a child sexual abuse accuser forced screenwriter John Logan (The Aviator, Skyfall) to cut all references to the incident. Instead of the last act focusing on his dark history, it will be two hours and end with a rousing concert like other musical biopics have done. Yay for music!

With the film coming out April 24th 2026, producers are hoping to take the cut footage and make a sequel if the first film is successful. Since most footage is in the can, it will only need reshoots to finish. Jaafar Jackson will play his real-life Uncle, and the film also features Colman Domingo and Nia Long as his parents. Yeah, Joe Jackson, you are not Number 1 Dad in the world for sure.

Does anyone remember the 1992 miniseries 'The Jacksons: An American Dream'? It focused on the rise of the family in the music business and on the abuse Michael suffered from his dad in trying to perfect the performances of the Jackson 5. I recommend people watch it to learn more about Jackson's fragile psyche. Whether you think he's guilty or not is for another story. Comment below with your thoughts.
