When did 'Fast And Furious' officially jump the shark? Was it with the bank vault going down the streets of Rio in the fifth one? The submarine chasing the cars in the Arctic in the 8th one? Or did it jump the shark when it changed from a crew that steals VCRs for a living into Government Spies?

NBC Universal Chief Donna Langley, in a talk at the Toronto Film Festival, apologized for the crew going to space in 'F9': “I’m sorry that we sent them into space. We can never get that genie back."

"We knew that we had to figure out how to grow it." Langley said about changing the series from a racing culture. "We made a conscious decision to pivot to a sort of a globe-trotting heist scenario.”

In the scene, Roman (Tyrese Gibson) and Tej (Ludacris) take a modified Pontiac Fiero Rocket car to space to visit the International Space Station. The moment is ridiculously over the top and looks like it was done as a middle finger at critics.

I think the franchise should have ended after 'Furious 7' with Paul Walker's death. Each once since then has gotten noticeably worse, and I think it's clear Walker's Brian O'Conner was the heart of the film. I'm a hypocrite, I'll watch everyone that's made for the next fifty years gladly, but no one ever said I was a film snob.
