Which Justice League superhero are you hoping James Gunn brings into the new DC Universe? The Flash? Aquaman? Cyborg?
Wonder Woman is returning to the big screen. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, DC Studios co-chief James Gunn confirmed that a brand-new Wonder Woman movie is currently “being written right now.”
This upcoming film represents a fresh start for the iconic superhero, originally brought to life by Gal Gadot in 2017. However, due to Gunn and Peter Safran’s reboot of the DC Universe, Gadot will not reprise the role going forward.
Gunn also noted that the HBO Max series centered on Themyscira, Wonder Woman’s mythic homeland, is still in progress — albeit at a slower pace.
The film joins a selective list of upcoming DC projects under the new regime. These include Superman (July 2025), Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (June 2026), the horror-inspired Clayface (September 2026), and the animated feature Dynamic Duo (June 2028), which explores Batman’s sidekicks Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.
While details remain under wraps, Gunn teased even more plans for Superman and hinted at a larger Justice League connection within the evolving DCU. When asked if the Justice League would return, his single-word response was telling: “Sure.”
As the DC Universe prepares to take bold new steps, a reimagined Wonder Woman is poised to lead the charge once again. Comment below with your thoughts.
