What movies from Ridley and Tony Scott would you want turned into TV shows?

The legacy of visionary filmmakers Ridley and Tony Scott is expanding from the big screen to the small, with a slate of TV adaptations of their iconic films now in development.

Next month, FX will debut “Alien: Earth,” the first-ever television series based on a Ridley Scott-directed film. In 2026, Amazon Prime is set to launch “Blade Runner 2099,” a highly anticipated follow-up led by Michelle Yeoh. These projects mark a new era for Scott Free Productions, the company co-founded by the brothers.

Speaking at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, David W. Zucker, Chief Creative Officer at Scott Free, revealed this marks the first time in his 24-year tenure that the studio is adapting the Scotts’ films for TV. Zucker attributes this shift to improved visual effects, higher streaming budgets, and the flexibility of long-form storytelling.

“We’re looking at a number of Ridley and Tony Scott titles,” Zucker said, emphasizing the need for a strong creative premise beyond just brand recognition.

The process isn’t simple. Each adaptation requires securing rights, aligning with studios, and ensuring a shared creative vision. However, Zucker is optimistic that by late summer, several promising projects may get the green light.

One title that’s off the table is Tony Scott’s “Man on Fire,” which is being reimagined as a series by Netflix and New Regency, without Scott Free’s involvement.

Scott Free’s TV track record already includes acclaimed series like “The Good Wife,” “The Man in the High Castle,” and “Raised by Wolves.” With more adaptations on the horizon, their cinematic universe may be poised for a powerful television renaissance. Comment below with your thoughts.
