Russell Crowe Henry Cavill Highlander

Which Jor-El actor is your favorite? Marlon Brando? Smallville's Julian Sands? Lois And Clark's David Warner? Superman And Lois' Angus Macfadyen? Will it be Bradley Cooper in the upcoming Superman film?

Russell Crowe has joined the cast of Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists’ upcoming Highlander reboot, stepping into the iconic role of Ramirez, originally played by Sean Connery in the 1986 fantasy classic. He will reunite with Henry Cavill, who leads the cast—marking a notable reunion after portraying Cavill’s Kryptonian father, Jor-El, in Man of Steel (2013).

Directed by John Wick mastermind Chad Stahelski, the film is slated for a theatrical release and brings a fresh vision to the epic saga of immortal warriors battling across centuries. Michael Finch penned the screenplay, drawing inspiration from the beloved original that blended historical fantasy with modern action.

The original Highlander, directed by Russell Mulcahy and starring Christopher Lambert and Connery, achieved cult status and gave rise to several sequels and a long-running TV series. Its time-hopping narrative and sword-clashing action helped cement its legacy.

Producers on the reboot include Scott Stuber, Nick Nesbitt, Neal H. Moritz, Josh Davis, Louise Rosner, and Stahelski’s 87Eleven Entertainment. With UA holding full rights to the franchise, expansion into a series is also under consideration.

Crowe’s casting adds seasoned gravitas to a high-stakes fantasy revival—one that promises both nostalgic depth and modern spectacle. Comment below with your thoughts.
