I worked with Shia LaBeouf on the Robert Redford film 'The Company You Keep' in 2012. It was on a set in Vancouver's city hall that was made to be a DMV license office. He had a funny interaction with an old Grip guy (on a ladder fixing a light) as Shia kept saying he looked like his Father. I don't think the Grip knew who LaBeouf was, probably mistaking him for a background extra, which made it even more hilarious.

In the documentary 'Megadoc', about the making of 'Megalopolis', Shia LaBeouf revealed he wanted to fight 'Transformers' and 'Holes' co-star Jon Voight over their political differences. Voight has been known to support President Donald Trump and the Republican Party. I'd like to dream that the fight was about LaBeouf's being upset over Voight selling his 1989 Chrysler LeBaron to someone else.

LaBeouf said: “We had a big fight on the phone where I told him I was going to come to his house and we were going to fist fight, and I hung up the phone. Didn’t talk to him for years.”

Co-starring in Francis Ford Coppola's film would bring them back together, LaBeouf said: “The first version [of the script] I read was about five years ago. [Coppola] did a table read. And in the time from that read to this film, I had basically fucked my whole life up. I was in the midst of doing my ninth step in this program I’m in, and I had to go make amends to Voight because Voight’s politics and mine are very different. I love him very much.”

“He was like my mentor from a young age,” LaBeouf continued of his co-star. “He was like the first real actor I ever met, and he’s the first one who put me on to Dustin Hoffman’s repertoire… He would sit in a room with me and watch all these movies back to back, and [that] made me fall in love with the process and the craft, because before that, I was just a poor kid making money.”

Do you think the fight was really over the Chrysler LeBaron? Comment below with your thoughts.
