Sony Pictures has officially released the trailer for Karate Kid: Legends, an ambitious project that seamlessly bridges the gap between the original Karate Kid franchise, the 2010 reboot, and a fresh new story. This film promises to unite generations of fans while introducing a new hero to the iconic series.
Ralph Macchio returns to his beloved role as Daniel LaRusso, a character he’s embodied for decades, most recently in the Cobra Kai series. Alongside him is Jackie Chan, reprising his role as Mr. Han from the 2010 reboot.
The movie introduces Li Fong, a kung fu prodigy played by Ben Wang. Following a family tragedy, Li and his mother are forced to move from Beijing to New York City. Struggling to adapt to his new environment, Li faces challenges fitting in at school while trying to escape his past.
Despite his desire to stay out of conflict, trouble follows Li. When a friend finds themselves in danger, Li steps up by entering a karate competition, only to realize his kung fu skills aren’t enough to secure victory. In a bid to help Li, Mr. Han reaches out to Daniel LaRusso. Together, they fuse their respective disciplines — kung fu and karate — creating a powerful hybrid fighting style for the ultimate showdown.
Directed by Jonathan Entwistle and written by Rob Lieber, Karate Kid: Legends also stars Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, and Ming-Na Wen. The film is set to release on May 30th, delivering an action-packed, emotional ride that celebrates legacy while pushing the story forward.
This fusion of old and new ensures Karate Kid: Legends appeals to both lifelong fans and a new generation, making it a must-see event for martial arts enthusiasts and cinema lovers alike.
