The last time I went to Las Vegas me and some friends went to the Venetian Casino where there was a Star Wars hyper reality experience called The Void where you play as Stormtroopers walking through several rooms with a VR headset attached to a gun shooting bad guys. This was a pretty unique thing that lasted around 30 minutes. Unfortunately Covid killed every location it was at.
Star Wars is once again expanding its universe—this time, into the thrilling world of mixed reality. Star Wars: Beyond Victory is the latest prequel experience, set just before the events of The Phantom Menace, and it’s revving up fans’ anticipation by bringing back a familiar face: Sebulba, the podracing icon.
First introduced as Anakin Skywalker’s rival in the 1999 film, Sebulba hasn’t had a major on-screen moment since. But in this immersive new mixed-reality story, he’s not just back—he’s center stage. Designed for Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets, the experience will allow players to interact with Sebulba like never before.
In Beyond Victory, players are introduced to Volo Bolus, a new character who teams up with Sebulba in an action-packed narrative built by the legendary teams at Industrial Light and Magic and Lucasfilm. According to the official Star Wars blog, fans can expect “a heart-pumping and engine-thrumping” journey that will transport them directly into the high-octane chaos of podracing.
This experience blurs the line between gaming and storytelling. While not a traditional video game, Beyond Victory puts users right in the cockpit, making them active participants in a galaxy far, far away. If you’ve ever dreamed of racing across Tatooine’s dusty tracks, now’s your chance—just brace yourself for the turbulence.
Beyond Victory will be previewed at the Star Wars Experience event in Japan next month, offering fans a first look at Sebulba’s return and a taste of the story’s high-speed thrills. In addition to the virtual experience, Marvel will publish a new comic that delves deeper into the characters and events, giving fans even more to explore.
Following in the footsteps of earlier VR hits like Vader Immortal and Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, this latest project proves Star Wars is committed to pushing the boundaries of how fans engage with its universe.
Whether you're a die-hard podracing fan or simply curious about this new prequel direction, Star Wars: Beyond Victory promises an immersive, nostalgic, and adrenaline-fueled ride.
