Do you want to see Steven Spielberg direct a "Call of Duty" film? Spielberg actually pitched Activision on his idea to bring the hit video game to the big screen, but the game studio balked when Spielberg wanted full control of merchandise and marketing. So all you film students take notes, even the most successful director of all time fights for his movies to get made.
Long-time friends Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, Wind River) and Peter Berg (Battleship, Lone Survivor) are teaming up to bring the 'Call of Duty' video game adaptation to life for Paramount. The two will co-write the script while Berg will direct. I have a hard enough time getting friends to reply to my Facebook messages.
Sheridan just signed a crazy billion-dollar deal with NBCUniversal, so this will probably be his last project for Paramount and what a way to go. Over 400 million copies of the game have been sold since it began in 2003, and his military show 'Lioness' is the perfect example of why he is the perfect person to write the film. Berg himself has made a few military films, with the shootout on the cliff in 'Lone Survivor' being his most famous scene.
Who do you want to star in the film? Comment below with your thoughts.
