Do you still want to see Robert Pattinson in The Batman Part 2 or would you rather have James Gunn pull him into the new DC Universe?

After a prolonged wait, filmmaker Matt Reeves is officially delivering his script for The Batman: Part II on Monday. Warner Bros. and DC Studios are reportedly experiencing a mix of relief and frustration—especially since the draft was expected over a year ago.

The original Batman film debuted in 2022, grossing nearly $800 million globally and prompting a fast-tracked sequel greenlight. However, over three years later, the follow-up is still in pre-production, with an October 1, 2027, release date. This means Warner Bros.

Discovery CEO David Zaslav could hit his five-year mark without a new Batman film released under his leadership.

Insiders say patience has worn thin. Discussions about potentially replacing Reeves surfaced as delays piled up. But Reeves, known for his slow and deliberate creative process, has also faced personal challenges while writing the sequel.

Despite internal tensions, DC Studios co-head James Gunn has defended Reeves multiple times—urging fans in an Entertainment Weekly interview to “get off Matt’s nuts” and let him write.

According to insider Matthew Belloni, production is tentatively set for January 2026, once Robert Pattinson wraps filming on Dune: Part Three. That timeline could allow the film to meet its 2027 release—if everything proceeds smoothly. A big "if" when dealing with a perfectionist director.

For now, fans can exhale—slightly. The Bat-signal is lit, but the road to Gotham is still long. Comment below with your thoughts.
