"TRON: ARES" TRAILER VIDEO BELOW ARTICLE:
The Vancouver film industry is in a downturn as major blockbusters being filmed there has dwindled in the last few years leaving the last big IP franchise film to being released this fall.
Disney has finally released the first trailer for Tron: Ares, the third installment in the iconic sci-fi saga. The trailer arrives on the heels of a five-minute exclusive preview shown at CinemaCon 2025 in Las Vegas, and it’s already generating serious buzz.
Directed by Joachim Rønning (Kon-Tiki, Young Woman and the Sea) and co-written by Jesse Wigutow (Daredevil: Born Again) and Jack Thorne (Enola Holmes), Tron: Ares was shot in Vancouver during the first half of 2024. The film promises to expand the TRON universe in a radical new direction.
This chapter centers on Ares (Jared Leto), a highly advanced digital program sent from the Grid into the real world on a dangerous mission. His journey marks humanity’s first contact with sentient artificial intelligence—raising questions about technology, trust, and what it means to be real.
The supporting cast is packed with talent, including Gillian Anderson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, and Cameron Monaghan. Music fans have another reason to be excited: Nine Inch Nails is composing the score, continuing TRON’s tradition of groundbreaking sound design.
The film picks up the legacy left by Tron: Legacy (2010), directed by Joseph Kosinski, which grossed nearly $410 million and gained cult status thanks to its striking visuals and a now-iconic Daft Punk score. If the trailer is anything to go by, Tron: Ares looks set to honor that legacy while forging a bold new path.
Tron: Ares hits theaters on October 10, 2025 — prepare to step into a new frontier where the digital and real worlds collide.
