I have followed the UFC since the first one aired in 1993 and while the sport has changed massively in rules and fighter safety to be more mainstream they are now set to do the biggest update in technology.

In a powerful alliance that’s set to redefine how fans engage with combat sports, UFC has announced a multiyear partnership with Meta, naming the tech giant as its first-ever Official Fan Technology Partner. This strategic collaboration aims to unlock unprecedented levels of interaction for UFC’s global fanbase through the use of cutting-edge platforms and immersive technology.

Meta will integrate a suite of its innovative tools—Meta AI, Meta Glasses, Meta Quest, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads—to deepen how fans experience UFC content. UFC President Dana White expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that Meta’s involvement marks a transformative moment for the sport. “Meta has the greatest minds in tech and they are going to take fan engagement to the next level,” said White.

Meta’s AI-powered smart glasses will play a central role in this evolution. As the Official AI Glasses Partner of UFC, Meta will collaborate on integrating the glasses into live events, giving fans on-the-ground and at-home new, interactive ways to connect with fighters and the action inside the Octagon®.

The partnership also positions Threads, Meta’s text-based platform, as an Official Social Media Partner of UFC. Threads will become a hub for fan discussions and exclusive content, creating a centralized space for community-driven conversation during UFC events.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, a longtime MMA enthusiast, said, “I love this sport and I’m looking forward to working with the UFC to let fans experience it in new ways.”

Fans can expect a series of innovations to roll out over the coming months, including advancements in fighter rankings and broadcast integrations across UFC’s global Pay-Per-View and Fight Night events.

As this next-gen partnership unfolds, UFC and Meta promise to take fan interaction beyond the screen and into an immersive digital future.
