Can you imagine Nicolas Cage in a Christopher Nolan film? What movie and role should he have done? I'm going with the lead in'Tenet,' which is one of my least favourite films of Nolan. The film's plot was so confusing that I had to go to Wikipedia to understand what I saw after watching. Cage would have played into the weirdness, so it would have been at least an adventure.
Some interesting news for Nicolas Cage fans, as he just did an interview with the New York Times where he talked about the directors who were upset when he turned down roles in their films, specifically mentioning Christoper Nolan, Woody Allen, and Paul Thomas Anderson.
When asked about playing football legend John Madden in David O. Russell's upcoming film 'Madden', Cage said this: "I really didn’t know who he was. I don’t have, in my view anyway, much in common with him. David O. Russell offered me a movie a million years ago. It was a good movie, and he offered it, and I said no, and he’s the only director that I ever said no to who actually came back and offered me another movie. Most of them, they get their feelings hurt and don’t call you back. It’s happened a million times to me. It’s happened with Christopher Nolan, it’s happened with Woody Allen, it’s happened with Paul Thomas Anderson. They don’t call me back."
Cage further elaborated on what films he was asked to do: "'Insomnia.' The Paul Thomas Anderson movie was a very early movie. He’d shown me a short film with Philip Baker Hall."
What other directors do you wish Cage had worked with? Steven Spielberg? James Cameron? Comment below with your thoughts.
