What's your favorite hospital show? I have to go with ER which for the first few seasons fired on all cylinders.
Scrubs is officially making a comeback — and it’s bringing back its heart and soul. Zach Braff has inked a deal to reprise his iconic role as Dr. John “JD” Dorian in the long-rumored Scrubs revival, according to TVLine. While ABC has yet to give the project a formal green light, Braff’s commitment marks a major step forward.
Next in line are fellow original stars Donald Faison (Turk) and Sarah Chalke (Elliot), both of whom are expected to return as series regulars. Additionally, talks are reportedly ongoing with Judy Reyes (Carla) and John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox) for recurring appearances, reuniting more of Sacred Heart’s beloved alumni.
Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence has long teased a reboot, revealing last fall that the pieces were “very close” to falling into place. With a deal now in place between 20th Television (under Disney, like ABC) and Warner Bros. — where Lawrence currently holds an exclusive — Lawrence can officially guide the new series, although he won’t serve as showrunner.
Lawrence has confirmed that the revival will not erase Season 9. While the focus will return to legacy characters still working at the hospital, there may be nods to the med school-era cast, including Kerry Bishé and Dave Franco.
As Scrubs fans hold their breath for ABC’s final approval, the return of JD is a promising sign that the series' heartfelt humor and bromance-filled charm are just a heartbeat away. Comment below with your favorite hospital show.
