Destin Daniel Cretton Is Developing A "Hawaii Five-O" Film Adaptation Reboot
What is your favorite TV show filmed in Hawaii? I'm going with 'Lost.' I always thought the perfect job in film would be a background extra for the beach scenes where the castaways hung out.
Book Em' Danno! Big news for fans of the 1960's TV show 'Hawaii Five-O' and its 2010 reboot starring Alex O'Loughlin and Scott Caan. Director Destin Daniel Cretton, hot off filming 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' is developing a big-screen version from a script by Chris Bremmer (Bad Boys For Life) for Paramount Pictures.
Cretton is red hot right now, so I'm wondering if he is more of a fan of the original or the reboot, as he could direct any film of his choosing, so this is a strange choice unless he's a big fan of the series. This is no surprise to me, as Joseph Kosinski is directing 'Miami Vice 85', which will reboot the 1980s series in that time period and not modern day. Most directors get into directing cause they are fanboys of movies and television.
I actually watched every episode of the reboot and enjoyed it, but after watching an episode, I didn't really think about it. It was formulaic candy. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Maybe Cretton is just using it as an excuse to get paid millions to shoot a movie in Honolulu.
