The hype is real for Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar Games’ latest trailer for the highly anticipated sequel has amassed over 475 million views across platforms within its first 24 hours—making it the biggest video launch in history, according to the studio.

By comparison, GTA VI’s first trailer in 2023 earned 93 million views on YouTube alone. The new trailer’s staggering reach even eclipses blockbuster debuts like Deadpool & Wolverine (365 million) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps (200 million).

The GTA VI frenzy didn’t stop at video views. The trailer’s featured track, “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters, experienced a 182,000% surge in streams on Spotify, highlighting how deeply the franchise influences pop culture. “Music has been synonymous with the series,” said Sulinna Ong, Spotify’s global head of editorial. “It’s great to see new fans discovering an iconic song.”

Though originally slated for 2025, GTA VI will now launch on May 26, 2026, with Rockstar citing a need for additional development time. The game is set in Vice City, a fictional version of Miami, and is expected to push the boundaries of open-world gaming.

Rockstar has reportedly invested over $1 billion into development, a bold move considering GTA V has grossed nearly $10 billion since its 2013 debut.

As anticipation builds, one thing is clear: GTA VI is already reshaping the entertainment landscape—even before its release.
