With Chris Evans returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it appears his iconic on-screen partner, Hayley Atwell, will also be making a comeback in Avengers: Doomsday. According to Deadline, Atwell is set to reprise her beloved role as Agent Peggy Carter in this highly anticipated installment.

Rumors of Evans’ return have circulated for years, and Atwell’s involvement was floated as part of a potential standalone project. However, it wasn’t until the storyline of Avengers: Doomsday took shape that both characters' returns were solidified. The reunion promises a nostalgic and thrilling element for longtime MCU enthusiasts.

Atwell has a rich history with Marvel, having played Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and key moments in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Endgame. She also had appearances in Ant-Man and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Her character even made animated appearances in What If?, showcasing the multiverse's endless possibilities.

Beyond the films, Atwell led the acclaimed ABC series Agent Carter, which ran for two seasons and was praised for its empowering portrayal of 1940s espionage. Her return adds significant weight to Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo with Kevin Feige producing. Filming is set to begin early next year, targeting a May 2026 release.
