Ryan Gosling Will Star In Shawn Levy's MCU "Ghost Rider"
What is your favorite Ryan Gosling project? I have to go with the 90's comedy 'Breaker High', which was about teenagers on a cruise ship that was a high school. When I went to work on cruise ships in 2001, I expected my cabin to be the size of theirs, which was really a Vegas hotel room-sized set. Imagine my surprise when I got onboard in Miami to find my cabin was the perfect size to just fit enough slave labor. I'm joking, but not really.
Good news for fans of Marvel at San Diego's Comic-Con Hall H Saturday as Ryan Gosling was announced as the new Ghost Rider in the MCU for director Shawn Levy and screenwriter Jonathan Tropper. This will be a reunion for the three, as they teamed up on 'Star Wars: Starfighter', which comes out next year. Gosling thanked the crowd, saying, "As you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time. So, Kevin Feige, Josh Horowitz, Hall H, thank you."
Nicolas Cage famously played Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider in two films released in 2007 and 2011 and apparently had no desire to be in the MCU, even though he plays Spider-Man in 'Spider-Noir', which I guess takes place in the Miles Morales animated movies universe. Can anyone follow these universes anymore??
Gosling will have inside information about the character, as his wife Eva Mendes starred in the first Cage film. Wouldn't it be neat if her character returned, or would that be more for a 'Deadpool'? The 'Ghost Rider' film is expected in 2028, and we will wait to see if Gosling appears first in 'Avengers: Doomsday'.
