Which is the best movie with your favorite two actors teaming up? Is it a classic film like Paul Newman and Robert Redford in 'Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid'? An ensemble film like 'The Departed'? Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio in 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood'? You will probably say Al Pacino (Godfather) and Robert De Niro (Cape Fear) in 'Heat'.

The two best actors of our generation may be teaming up in the sequel to 'Heat'. Reports are that Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) is also circling to join Leonardo DiCaprio (Inception) in an undisclosed role for director Michael Mann (Miami Vice).

The film will be based on the novel Mann wrote with Meg Gardiner, which is also a sequel and a prequel, that focuses on Chris Shiherlis (played by Val Kilmer) being chased through South America and younger versions of Vincent Hanna and Neil McCauley (played by Al Pacino and Robert De Niro).

It is rumored that DiCaprio will take over the Shiherlis role, with the other actors in contention for parts being Austin Butler (Elvis), Adam Driver (Ferrari), and Bradley Cooper (Alias). I think the role Bale is circling is Otis Wardell, the primary villain, who is a sadistic killer. If the two don't share the screen, it would be the biggest cinematic miss since 'The Flash', which had three Batmans with Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, and George Clooney, and they didn't have one scene together. We saw how much fans loved the three Spider-Man together, which makes that a head scratcher.
