Jon Watts To Direct Simon Kinberg's "Star Wars" Trilogy
What is your favorite 'Star Wars' trilogy? The originals? The prequels? The sequels?
Good news for 'Star Wars' fans, as Jon Watts, best known for directing the first three Tom Holland 'Spider-Man' films, has signed on to direct the first film in Simon Kinberg's new trilogy, which he has taken on as writer and producer, and which takes place after 2019's 'Rise of the Skywalker.'
It's expected Daisy Ridley's Rey will lead the series, whose plot remains a mystery at this point, but I suspect it sees Rey training the new Jedi along with John Boyega's Finn as it continues the Skywalker saga. The film is yet to be greenlit but is the furthest 'Star Wars' film in development besides Ryan Gosling and Shawn Levy's 'Starfighter ', which comes out next year on May 27th, 2027. What do you want to see from it?
Watts is no stranger to the 'Star Wars' universe, as he was the showrunner and director on 'The Skeleton Crew' TV series that starred Jude Law. Are you happy with him, or who else would you rather see direct? I still want to see Michael Bay or Steven Spielberg.
