"Law And Order: Criminal Intent" Would Have 17 Hour Filming Days, Says Vincent D'Onofrio

What is your longest day on a film or television set? When I was acting in the Philippines, I had a 20-hour filming day with a two-hour shuttle ride there and back from Manila to the Anilao Awari Bay Resort in Batangas. When I was finally wrapped, I made as much sense as the President trying to solve the War in Iran at a UFC event.
Vincent D'Onofrio is opening up with GQ about the long days of filming the TV show 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent.'
“It was a really cool job in that way. It was exhausting for Kate Erbe and I. It was a lot of hours. We basically averaged about 17-hours a day, every day, for 10 months a year. So that was tough. You know, I hated that. And I'm glad it's really not allowed. Nobody's allowed to do that anymore with actors.”
Each episode usually ended with the suspects admitting the crime under interrogation, which was like doing a scene from a play. “They were usually anywhere from seven pages to 14 or 15 pages."
D'Onofrio explained there were more transitions in the show than in the show. “I left that show a better actor than I was before when I went in. There was so much dialogue to learn all the time. There were so many weird transitions that I had to make within one scene. So, I didn't know how to do that. I had to learn on the job. And I don't think I would have evolved like I did if it wasn't for that show.”
