Was rebooting Han Solo's character in the Ron Howard film Solo the worst decision in the history of cinema?

According to trusted entertainment outlet The DisInsider, the same source that correctly predicted The Incredibles 3, Lucasfilm is quietly laying the groundwork for an Indiana Jones reboot.

However, fans shouldn’t expect a whip-cracking return anytime soon. The studio is reportedly letting the iconic franchise “rest for a bit,” with a potential reboot announcement coming as early as the next D23 Expo.

While Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny underperformed at the box office, grossing $384M worldwide on a $329M budget, Disney still considers the franchise a vital asset.

Despite its recent stumble, Indy remains Lucasfilm’s most beloved non-Star Wars property.

Industry analysts suggest that lingering disappointment from 2008’s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and the challenge of marketing an aging Harrison Ford in the lead role may have contributed to Dial of Destiny’s lukewarm reception. Ford has since retired from the role, and rumored successors like Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Chris Pratt are reportedly off the table.

In 1992, ABC aired The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles TV show starring Sean Patrick Flannery as Jones. It lasted one season before it was mercifully cancelled.

Still, don’t count Indy out just yet. With Hollywood’s appetite for reboots showing no signs of slowing, a thoughtful relaunch seems inevitable. The key for Disney will be balancing nostalgia with innovation and honoring a character that remains sacred to generations of fans. Comment below with your thoughts.
