Marvel's "Wonder Man" Cancelled By Disney+

Sad news for Marvel fans as Disney+ has cancelled the series 'Wonder Man' after one season, even after a renewal was ordered in March. The show starred Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley as actors Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery, that follows them in Hollywood making a film about the 'Wonder Man' comics while being investigated by the Department of Damage Control (DODC). It was a different kind of story told by Marvel that worked in my opinion, as it was meta in it's behind the scenes story approach.

'Wonder Man' showrunner Andrew Guest explained on his TikTok how he was caught off guard by the news: "This is not a marketing stunt. There is no movie in the works. And Destin’s schedule, no one’s schedule was an issue. Yahya [Abdul-Mateen II], Destin [Daniel Cretton], Sir Ben [Kingsley] and I all loved making this show, all felt passionately about continuing to do it, and were eager to. Contracts were signed, schedules were cleared, writers' room was supposed to start this month, production was supposed to begin early next year. And there was a decision made internally between Disney and Marvel that this didn’t make sense for them, even though a few months ago it did, and that’s essentially all I really know. Numbers aren’t really shared with me."
