What are your thoughts of AI being used by major film studios?

Disney has announced a staggering $1 billion dollar agreement with OpenAI Sora for a three-year deal that will allow users to generate short videos based on characters from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel. Please no 'Elsa & Snow White In One Cup' jokes.

The agreement will be for animated characters only, so no actor's likeness or voice will be used. If you were planning on retconning the 'Star Wars' sequels and doing a better job by literally using any prompt, you are out of luck. ChatGPT will be implemented company-wide for employees at Disney, and the fan videos will be shown online at Disney+.

Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, released this press announcement: "Technological innovation has continually shaped the evolution of entertainment, bringing with it new ways to create and share great stories with the world. The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence marks an important moment for our industry. Through this collaboration with OpenAI, we will thoughtfully and responsibly extend the reach of our storytelling through generative AI, while respecting and protecting creators and their works."

"Bringing together Disney’s iconic stories and characters with OpenAI’s groundbreaking technology puts imagination and creativity directly into the hands of Disney fans in ways we’ve never seen before, giving them richer and more personal ways to connect with the Disney characters and stories they love."
