What is your favorite surfing film? I'm going with 'Blue Crush' with Kate Bosworth, Matt Davis and Michelle Rodriguez. I find it has more of the underdog American dream, which inspired me more than the other films. It might be my favorite film that takes place in Hawaii too.

Great news for fans of the Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze 1991 bank-robbing surf film 'Point Break' as AMC and the French network Canal+ have greenlit a revival series that takes place in the same universe. The 2015 remake film will have no connection thankfully.

The show's official logline is "The series is set in the present day, over thirty years after the events of the film, and centered on a new heist crew with ties to the notorious Ex-Presidents gang, while the FBI must rely on a mysterious ex-pro surfer with a checkered past to infiltrate them."

The series showrunners will be Dave Kalstein (Treadstone, NCIS: Los Angeles) and Christopher C. Rogers (Sugar) for an eight-episode series that starts production next year. No word on who is rumoured for the cast, but I'm going with Drew Starkey (Outer Banks) as the outlaw surfer and Matt Rife as the FBI agent. Hey, let's try it out!

AMC's Chief Content Officer Dan McDermott released this statement: "Start with one of the most entertaining and unforgettable action films ever made, add a powerhouse creative team and producing partners, massive fan interest that has been clear from the moment we announced the series was in development and you get a greenlight we could not be more excited about. Dave Kalstein and Chris Rogers have created a story and characters that honor the legacy of the film and will bring a new generation of Ex-Presidents to the world."
