What is your favorite samurai project?

Sad news for the crew in the film industry in Vancouver, as FX's 'Shōgun' has wrapped filming on its second season after eight months of production. Along with season 3 of 'The Last of Us', the samurai show employed one of the largest crews in the city, which will leave a giant hole until the show comes back or The CW unlikely brings back the Arrowverse.

The show filmed at North Shore Studios, an old sawmill in Port Moody and in the coastal city of Ucluelet. The series was created by Justin Marks (Top Gun: Maverick) and stars Hiroyuki Sanada (The Last Samurai) as Lord Yoshii Toranaga in a show adapted from James Clavell's novel set in 1600s Japan, where Toranaga is at war with the Council of Regents after an abandoned European ship is found nearby. I would like to think they are really at war with the weather and they have to use umbrellas instead of swords, which would be a better weapon for the endless Vancouver rain.

The second season takes place ten years after the first and features returnees Ren Meguro, Fumi Nikaidô, Shinnosuke Abe, Asami Mizukawa, Hiroto Kanai, Masataka Kubota, Sho Kaneta, Yûko Miyamoto, Yuka Kouri, Tommy Bastow, Jun Kunimura, Yoriko Dôguchi, Eita Okuno and Takaaki Enoki. Joining the cast will be Takashi Yamaguchi, Risei Kukihara, Ryô Satô, Seishiro Nishida, and Mantaro Koichi. Hopefully they started taking Prozac and sunlamps when they arrived in Vancouver.
