Which is your favorite Stephen Amell TV series? 'Arrow'? "Heels' Or 'Suits LA'? I have a funny story with him from working on the 'Arrow' pilot as a background extra. It was during the big party reunion scene that was filmed at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The director, David Nutter (Game of Thrones), who is famous for doing pilots for new TV series, was nice enough to talk to everyone and joked with me that I was Bruce Wayne, so for the rest of the night, he would ask for Bruce Wayne to be in the shot. He did that one time in front of Amell, who looked at me like I was a ghost. I guess he didn't like any references to Batman.
Stephen Amell has been cast as Hobie Buchannon in the 'Baywatch' reboot TV series for Fox that was given a 12-episode order for this fall. The role was originally played by Brandon Call in the first season on NBC in 1996, and Jeremy Jackson, who took over from him when the second season was put in syndication, where it became the biggest TV show in the world.
The official series logline is Hobie is described as the “wild child we all loved from the original series who is now a Baywatch Captain, following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch. Hobie’s world is turned upside down when Charlie, the daughter he never knew, shows up on his doorstep, eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy and become a Baywatch lifeguard alongside her dad.”
Series Showrunner Matt Nix (Burn Notice) said in a statement, “From the first conversation, Stephen Amell brought exactly what this new chapter of ‘Baywatch’ demands: heart, intensity, and that undeniable hero energy. He’s the kind of lead who can sprint into danger, carry the emotional weight, and still make it feel fun. We’re so excited to get started.”
